On the other hand, the northern lion dance has a close relationship with the kungfu lion dance which is about a young lion performing along with an adult lion. Their costumes are less decorative and more robust for more movement. The best place that you can see northern lion dance performances are at Shaolin temples.

In Malaysia, especially the Chinese, lion dance is a common culture. Lion dance troupes will be invited during occasions like business opening ceremony or during Chinese New Year. They believe the lion dance will bring them good luck for their business or home. Lion dance troupes are in high demand for Malaysian Chinese during these kinds of occasion.
